Willy Mason

Yesterday, I interviewed Willy Mason. It was an interesting chat, one you shall see in the next few weeks. His music's great; it's smoke-filled, whiskey-soaked, and surprisingly catchy. His new album, If The Ocean Gets Rough, will be released on March 20th. First single "Save Myself" really captures what he's all about, though. The rest of the album is just as impressive as this one.

A Cat Called Cricket

I had never heard of Baltimore's A Cat Called Cricket until I received a copy of their debut album, Here Comes Another Melody a few weeks back. Upon first listen, I was instantly struck by their songwriting sensibilities; lovely alt-country-ish folk-ish songs with a timing sense that reminds me of both Wilco and Shelleyan Orphan, without really sounding like either. Their melodies--delicious! I really enjoyed the album, and "Seasons Change" is but one reason why.

Minipop

I figured that my first post here would be about this really cool band I've discovered. When first I heard their song "Precious," I assumed it was either a leak or an unreleased early track from Eisley. Much to my surprise, it was an entirely different band! As you might have gathered, the band is a dream-pop delight, and they sound a lot like, yeah, Eisley. Beautiful, beautiful harmonies, too!
